Avera Diffractive Ultrasound Breast Imaging System
client: AIT

Description: A clinical breast imaging system that uses ultrasound rather than X-ray imaging to perform safe, non-invasive breast cancer screening.

Challenge: Take the system from a laboratory device to a complete, released product in nine months. Design it to fit into a room originally intended for much-smaller X-ray equipment.

Scope: Develop the product's mechanical and structural systems, mechanical motion systems, imaging chain, motion control and PC-based data collection system. Complete the industrial design, prototyping, pilot production, testing and UL listing.

Results: Altman Browning completed the project on schedule and within budget.
